Mar Menor recovery plan hasreshaped Spain’s once polluted lagoon coast

Ten years after the contamination crisis known as the “green soup,” Spain’s Mar Menor shows clearer water and expanding restoration work. Authorities have invested hundreds of millions of euros in wetlands, reforestation, and runoff controls, while more than 9,000 hectares of illegal irrigation have been dismantled.
