Fentanyl vaccine begins first major human trial to block overdose before it happens

Researchers at ARMR Sciences have started the first clinical trial of a fentanyl vaccine in the Netherlands, enrolling 40 healthy adults to test whether the shot can trigger antibodies that block fentanyl from reaching the brain and prevent the deadly respiratory depression that causes overdose death. If successful, this approach could shift how we tackle the opioid crisis and protect at-risk communities.
