NYC removes penalties for jaywalking to promote pedestrian freedom

New York City has officially legalized jaywalking. Penalization used to be up to US$250, and its enforcement was discriminatory, with Black and Hispanic pedestrians being stopped at a far steeper rate than white citizens.
