Hopelessness is not a fact; it's a side effect of incomplete information.

We believehopelessness occurs when you see only the dark part of the picture. Great News wants to help you complete your perspective. Not by ignoring what's broken, but by refusing to pretend that all is lost and resignating. Studies have shown that we tend to think things are worse than they actually are - because we lack information.

Great News was founded by a self-financed single mother with a simple but demanding goal: to do better.

Better than the cynicism of mainstream media. Better than the shallow optimism of feel-good aggregators. And better than the unexamined Western lens that so much of our news — positive or negative — is filtered through.

We search, verify, and publish uplifting, well-researched stories in six languages from reliable sources across the world. Not to distract you from hard realities, but to make sure you're seeing all of them — including the ones that prove progress is real, solutions exist, and people everywhere are doing remarkable things.

  • Critical thinking, not clickbait
Every story is chosen and framed with editorial rigour. Optimism earned, not manufactured.
  • Inclusive by design
Diverse voices, underrepresented perspectives, and a conscious effort to question whose progress we celebrate.
  • A genuinely global lens

Six languages. Not all of them are European. Stories from all regions. We actively challenge the bias of how "good news" gets reported, and what "good news" is.

  • Independent and transparent
No political interests, no agenda, no advertisers. Sources always cited. Funded by readers who believe this matters.

If you've ever turned off the news and felt worse than before you turned it on — the great news app was built for you. If you've ever turned off the news and felt worse than before you turned it on — the great news app was built for you.
