Japan begins first approved stem-cell therapy for Parkinson’s

A patient at Kyoto University Hospital has received Sumitomo Pharma’s iPS-cell transplant for Parkinson’s after conditional approval in Japan. In a trial of seven people, no major adverse effects were reported over two years and four patients improved.
