From July 19, 2026, large EU companies — those with over 250 employees and more than €50 million in annual turnover — must stop incinerating or landfilling unsold clothing, accessories, and footwear. An estimated 4–9% of unsold EU textiles are destroyed annually, generating around 5.6 million tons of CO₂. Medium-sized firms must comply from 2030.
