China’s buildings turn harvested rain into a water resource

China has made urban rainwater harvesting part of major building design, from Beijing’s Bird’s Nest to new offices in Shenzhen. Beijing says it reuses 50m cubic metres of rainwater a year, while reused water from rain and other sources now supplies more than 30% of the city’s water needs.
