Ocean waste gets a global spotlight: new plan to track and cut marine litter

Scientists worldwide have laid out for the first time a unified strategy to monitor and reduce marine litter—especially large debris now known to accumulate on the seafloor. Standardizing data, tracking river and coastal inputs, and coordinated clean-up efforts could finally give oceans a fighting chance against decades of pollution.
