Whale tail photos reveal a 14,000 km crossing between Australia and Brazil

By comparing tens of thousands of photographs of whale flukes, an international team identified two individual humpback whales photographed in both eastern Australia and Brazil — the greatest distances ever confirmed between individual whale sightings anywhere in the world.The findings were made possible by decades of citizen science and international research collaboration.
