10-year whale shark study is creating Indonesia’s first shark marine reserve

We’ve told you about the satellite tagging study of 70 whale sharks in Indonesia that revealed previously unknown migration routes, feeding grounds, and a nursery — the data are now being used to establish the country’s first whale shark-specific marine protected area in Saleh Bay, Sumbawa, as it’s a permanent home, not a seasonal stop.
