Angola has formally protected 22,000 hectares around Mount Moco, and all areas where Afromontane forest can grow. Over 8,000 native trees from nine species have been planted, and birds like Cabanis’s greenbul now live at restored sites. Swiestra’s francolin, a threatened bird found only in western Angola, is among the key beneficiaries.
