Biodegradable balloon aims to cut wildlife harm

Imperial College London PhD student Juliana Cumming and Bioloon co-founder Charlotte Melia have developed a latex balloon that they say biodegrades within about nine months in soil, seawater and deionized water. It avoids additives used in conventional balloons, which can harm birds and marine life.
