Germany sets explicit 2045 target to phase out fossil fuels

Germany has published its first roadmap explicitly committing Europe’s largest economy to move away from fossil fuels by 2045. The plan targets 80% renewable electricity by 2030, 215GW of solar power and a 30% methane cut. Though critics warn gas policy and slow electrification could weaken delivery it’s an important firat step in the right direction.
