In Butembo, eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, a mobile laboratory is returning Ebola test results within 24 hours, and sometimes in six, down from up to 72. By bringing testing closer to suspected cases, the negative-pressure unit helps doctors direct patients to appropriate care faster and can be moved when outbreaks shift.
