Basque Country halves colon cancer deaths with screening program

EURONEWS

In Spain’s Basque Country, colorectal cancer deaths among 50- to 69-year-olds fell by 50.1% after a new immunochemical test was offered every two years. The 21-year observational study linked screening to earlier diagnoses, with 70.8% of detected tumors found at stages I or II, when treatment is often less aggressive.
