Penobscot Nation regains 11,297 acres of ancestral land

The Penobscot Nation has received 11,297 acres near Katahdin, the first phase of a planned 30,000-plus-acre return by Trust for Public Land. The transfer expands access to culturally significant territory and conservation authority, raising the land it stewards to about 140,000 acres.
