Vermont’s largest utility has linked more than 5,500 home batteries into a virtual power plant that now supplies 110MW, the state’s biggest power source. The system backs up homes during outages and has helped retire fossil-fuel peaker plants, while saving customers $ 11 million last year, according to GMP.
