FDA approves expandable heart valve for growing children

The FDA has approved Edwards’ Autus Size-Adjustable Valve, the first artificial pulmonary heart valve that can be widened inside a child’s body as they grow. The device could reduce repeat open-heart surgeries for children with congenital valve disease; one-year follow-up data suggest better durability.
