After 11 years, surveys of 22,000 people, and collaboration across 56 organisations, PCOS has been officially renamed PMOS — polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome. The old name implied ovarian cysts that don’t exist, delaying diagnosis in up to 70% of cases. The new name reflects the true hormonal and metabolic nature of the condition affecting 1 in 8 women worldwide.
