Norway creates its largest marine protected area in Andfjorden

REGIERINGEN

Norway has designated 1,848.5 km² of Andfjorden as its largest marine protected area, raising protection in mainland territorial waters from about 4.8% to 6%. The area includes coral reefs, kelp forests and spawning grounds, with stricter rules in zones of vulnerable biodiversity. A local board will manage it.
